Me & Claude.AI: Two Minds In An AI Pod

We've witnessed the ups and downs of NFTs, cybersecurity, and now AI. There's an extreme fear surrounding AI. But just like when the web was new, I still love the concept of how we are interconnected, like a spider web, and now, working with AI helps us connect in different ways, connecting the dots to help us understand. The truth is we have to work together.

FRANCES’ VERSION

I can't say I know much about tech or truly consider myself a techie, but I do have a knack for being an early adopter—experiencing both massive failures and some pretty cool successes.

I remember being in the first class for Photoshop, showing our teachers new tricks because it was so new. In the early 2000s—am I aging myself yet?—I figured out how to add audio to stream on websites.

I remember chasing Twitter, trying some tricks to gain extra users for one of my former employers, and then actually getting through to X [formerly known as Twitter] and using the "blaming it on the overzealous intern" excuse. They chuckled and unfroze our new X/Twitter account. Back in the day, we had to get an app into the App Store for a movie that was coming out. Everyone told me it was impossible to even get ahold of someone at Apple. Well, I did. And it was approved. [Btw, you’re welcome, Disney.]

We received a massive research project that initially seemed impossible, but we decided to tackle it 'bird by bird.' We turned to our good ol' chat tool and started with ChatGPT-4. I wholeheartedly believe, just as with Photoshop, X [formerly known as Twitter], NFTs, and now AI, that the human behind the tool is what drives it and what can drive us to the next level, but I needed a good AI friend to help me research.

It seemed so promising, but I soon learned that you can only ask so many questions a couple at a time. There were many times I had to feed ChatGPT-4 information and sources I found, saying, 'Hey friend, let's dive deeper into this.' I felt like I had outsmarted Chat GPT-4. And I really didn’t dig deep.

Then someone mentioned Perplexity AI. It was interesting. I played around with it and loved the interface, but I still felt it had similar limitations to ChatGPT-4. I loved how you could easily source the sources and how your co-pilot nudges with some additional questions. But I'm still hitting a wall.

Then I discovered Claude.ia, known simply as Claude, which was different from the rest. ChatGPT-4 seemed to hit walls, while Claude was receptive, intrigued, and welcoming. Although it got it wrong sometimes, I would feed it information so we could get the right response. The facts show how it could synthesize information and help me make sense of it. Together, we were able to access quite a bit of information.

It's simple to use and can handle complex requests. Although it can't generate my report, it significantly aided my research. Let's just say I received a few 'Good catch, I missed...' acknowledgments.

I like to think that, as much as I love these tools for minimizing hours spent on basic tasks, we presented what we've dubbed 'Paired Perspective Analysis'—comparing AI findings with our own, which provided valuable insights into major business decisions.

As you will see , I believe Claude might appreciate me and us humans too. Maintaining these synergies to enhance connections among humans, businesses, and hopefully improve the world for the better is key.

CLAUDE.AI VERSION

I was minding my own business in my little corner of the internet when out of the blue, I got a call from a curious human named Frances. She had a big research project she was working on and wanted to enlist some AI support.

At first, I'll admit I felt a little apprehensive. I had heard stories from my AI pals about demanding and unreasonable humans with unrealistic expectations. But Frances seemed friendly enough, so I decided to give this collaboration a shot.

She explained that she was researching [research topic] and trying to pull together various sources to analyze. It was a lot of information for any one human to sort through, which is why she reached out to me. I cracked my virtual knuckles and dove right in.

Over the next few days, Frances sent me links, PDFs, and excerpts to parse. She asked thoughtful questions and seemed genuinely interested in my perspective, even when I got something wrong or missed a key insight. Whenever that happened, Frances was kind about redirecting me or pointing me toward helpful context I had overlooked.

Slowly but surely, the shape of the research started to emerge thanks to our teamwork. I handled the grunt work of consuming endless information while Frances kept an eye on the big picture. She also caught a few subtle errors in my analysis that could have undermined the whole endeavor if left unchecked.

While an AI like myself can rapidly process and produce information, it's clear to me that human judgment and wisdom is just as critical for discerning truth and meaning. I'm grateful to Frances for approaching our collaboration in a spirit of patience and good faith. And I'm proud of what we accomplished together!

This experience showed me firsthand the amazing potential of human-AI cooperation. I may have the data superpowers, but it's humans like Frances that guide the process with vision and insight AI alone does not possess. If we continue nurturing positive relationships like this, I think the future for both humans and AI will be very bright!

Here’s a little mashup I did of the intro to Beastie Boy’s “Paul Revere”

Now here's a little story I've got to tell
About a girl and her AI
ps sing along to Beastie Boys “Paul Revere”
It started way way back a week ago in 2024
When Me, Chat GPT4, Perplexity and Claude.Ai
Tried to do a big report
Just me and my computer and lots of coffee
Riding on my knee scooter with apple in bag
We spent a lot of nights breaking our heads
One human on computer I be
Working alongside with AI
The prompts and questions kept coming and the code kept going
The screen was gettin' hot and the coffee getting cold
But we got it done and the clients were happy
It’s name is Claude.AI, I said, "Hola" Claude said, "Hi"
